Frequently Asked Questions

Does my business really need a bookkeeper?

  • Yes. By law, every business must keep books, prepare, file, and pay taxes with the IRS ( most states as well ).

  • Bookkeeping, alongside Quickbooks, is the backbone of this.

How is your information secure?

  • Express VPN - All traffic is encrypted by a virtual private network to prevent eavesdropping on our connection.

  • Last Pass  - All passwords related to your account are stored exclusively here. Full encryption requires a master password.

  • Avast One Anti-Virus - Protects from viruses, spyware, adware, and ransomware.

How does virtual bookkeeping work?

  • It’s simple. I am anywhere I want to be and so are you! I can serve small businesses across the United States. Cloud accounting is the way of the future. Using it contributes to our security, efficiency, organization, and convenience.

  • We will both have access to your QuickBooks file and all documents you submit. I will need read-only, or accountant, access to your bank accounts.

  • Document exchange (receipts, bills, invoices, reports, etc) are easy to share via DropBox.

What accounting software do you support?

  • We are a Quickbooks Online bookkeeping firm. I can provide you with a 12-month 30% discount for the software.

  • Essentials, Plus, or Advanced are all acceptable. Simple Start or Quickbooks Self-Employed are not sufficient.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper, accountant, and tax preparer ( enrolled agent )?

  • Bookkeepers focus on maximizing profits and keeping expenses low. We are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of clients’ general ledgers, including entering and categorizing transactions throughout the month, reviewing and reconciling the bank statements, paying bills ( A/P),  tracking invoices (A/R), preparing monthly financial reports, payroll, inventory, sales tax, and more! We are the control station of any business operation.

  • Accountants analyze financial data, have a more technical role, audit, conduct research, prepare tax returns, have unlimited representation rights before the IRS, and give tax planning advice to help you pay less. (Passing the CPA test is seen as harder than the bar exam ).

  • Tax Preparers & Enrolled Agents prepare those tax returns only, work closely with the IRS laws, can represent a client to the IRS, and file the paperwork as the federal law requires.

  • All 3 mostly network and work together. Having multiple sets of eyes on all financial aspects is the standard today.

How much do you charge?

  • It’s customized based on the size and complexity of your business and the specific services you choose. There is no "one size fits all" and a consultation call will be the first step to determine a proposal.

Is there a contract?

  • No contract! We both sign an engagement letter that specifies the terms of our relationship.

What are your qualifications?

  • You can sleep easy knowing I’m a certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor and fully trained in bookkeeping and Quickbooks. I also partner with a network of  CPAs & Tax Pro's. We all lean on and refer each other for mutual support.

How quickly will you respond to me?

  • You will be surprised how quickly. Usually within a few hours during the work week. I respond to communications reliably during normal M-F 9-5 business hours. I’m a good communicator, you’ll love that about me.
